MATERIAL

UTEBAGUA’s special pieces are manufactured in spheroidal graphite cast iron according to EN 545 standard, which establishes requirements that must be fulfilled by ductile iron fittings for water pipes. Mechanical characteristics are the following:

• Tensile strength minimum: 420 N/mm2
• Yield strength minimum: 300 N/mm2
• Elongation minimum: 5 %
• Brinell hardness minimum: Up to 250 HB

Mechanical Joint bolt´s material is ductile iron as fittings.

Elastic joints are according to Standard UNE EN 681-1 concerning characteristics and properties.

Depending on application, gasket materials are the following:

• Pipes for potable water: Ethylene-Propylene (EPDM)
• Pipes for sewage: Nitrile (NBR)

Bolts for flanges are of carbon steel and with a quality 8.8, being according to EN 4016, EN 4034 and EN 7091 standards. Coating is zinc plated.

MICROSTRUCTURE

Spheroidal graphite ductile iron microstructure is according to EN ISO 945 standard, having the carbon appearance of nodules or spheres awarding ductile iron high mechanical properties and ductility, being too very good its resistance to corrosion.

FITTING’S DIMENSIONS

Fitting´s dimensions for ductile iron pipes according to EN 545, are according to EN 545, ISO 2531 and EN 1092-2 standards.

Fittings for PVC and PE pipe are according to EN 12842 and EN 1092-2 standards.

COATING

All pieces are coated internally and externally with a uniform layer of polyamide epoxy of thickness of 250 microns color blue RAL 5017. Optionally other colors as red RAL 3011 for sewerage, violet RAL 4001 for re-used water, etc…. can be supplied.

This coating is suitable for potable water fulfilling exigencies of R.D. 140/2003, which establishes sanitary criteria of human consumption water quality. In addition, it has WRAS and ACS certifications.

MARKING

Fitting´s marking is according to EN 545 and EN 12842 standards.

TEST

We carry out mechanical test of tensile strength, yield strength and elongation material as well as the metallographic analysis and Brinell hardness test. These test are made according to EN ISO 6892-1, EN ISO 6506 and EN ISO 945 standards.

All ductile iron fittings according to EN 545 standard are tested hydraulically according to point 6.5 of this standard, being test pressures the indicated in table 15.
